The Perfect Combination for Magical Memories

Want to know what I believe to be the absolute best?

Grandparent + Grandkids + Disneyland = Magical Lifetime of Memories

As a young boy, my husband’s Uncle Bert worked for Walt Disney, putting sound to his movies. So Disneyland to him was free playground... Can you imagine, having that park as your playground?

As for me, I was about 10 years old, when I went to the Disneyland park for the first time. My parents took us right after Christmas, and oh how I remember the thrill of seeing the Matterhorn! I was scared to ride that fast roller coaster, I was assured it was Disneyland, and nothing was scary. Oh the fun we had, my little brother and myself, seeing only what some hoped to see at Disneyland.

Then in a blink of an eye, it was my senior year of high school. I was there with my friends and we thought we were pretty cool... 300 miles away from our parents, overnight, nothing could be better!

But, I was wrong. There was something better.

Taking your own kids to Disneyland for the first time, watching them smile at Minnie Mouse, shaking Mickey Mouse’s hand, running to each ride, going back to the hotel and just listening to them share stories with us. I was sure nothing could be better; again, I was proven wrong.

In December 2017, Chuck (my husband) and I took our whole family as a Christmas gift to Disneyland. At that time the grandkids were two and four. Talk about a magical memory! Our family all gathered in the happy place they call Disneyland, to see the smiles on all their faces and made this YaYa’s heart smile. I held the hand of my “Little Princess Granddaughter” as she saw the “Princess Castle” for the first time. Her eyes were as big as silver dollars. Our grandson was ALL smiles when he saw his favorite, Goofy. Goofy made sure he kept the smile on his face. Seven days of magical memories. PaPa & YaYa made sure we had a first class trip! We splurged on the Club Level Floor at the Disneyland Hotel, 5 day hopper passes, character meal and we didn't leave out the shopping... after all it was their Christmas memory we were making. I knew for sure this was the best, nothing better than the whole family at Disneyland.

After we got home, my grandkids informed me they were ready to go back! I should tell you, they didn’t want to leave! So, as a good travel agent YaYa booked a 5 night, June 2018 trip. Only this time it would just be YaYa, PaPa and the grandkids. Back to the Disneyland Hotel we went, back to Club Level. I was wrong again… this trip was even more magical than the one 6 months prior. There is just something special when it’s just the grandkids. From the moment you pick them up, your memory making begins. Something special is shared just between grandparents and grandkids.

When we arrived, got to our room, there was a knock at the door, at that moment in time the Magic of Disney began. It was a special surprise from Mickey to the kids. They received a welcome basket for each of them which included Mickey ears with their names on it, Mickey/Minnie treats, stuffed animals and so much more! Then we were off to Downtown Disney, a happy place in itself. You can enjoy restaurants, stores, bowling alley, strolling down the lane, you will be greeted by live music, and friendly people.

The next morning we head into Disneyland where they were greeted by Mickey and Minnie (and can’t forget Goofy) Sissy had her dream come true, dressed in her Cinderella gown, she met her favorite princess, Cinderella. Talk about sparkles in the eyes! When Cinderella offered to make a special video of just the two of them. What an incredible moment. Then we were off... running from ride to ride, soaking in all the magic Disneyland has to offer.

As grandparents it is ok for the grandkids to eat ice cream before dinner. We let them swimming for as long as they want, learning to jump off the side of the pool for the first time, or hearing them say, “We are going down a “HUGE WATERSLIDE YAYA!”

Each night back at the room they would write a postcard to their parents, and Facetime them (thank you technology) so their parents could hear about their day. They would turn the “magical twinkle headboard” on and quietly drift off to sleep, where I had no doubt in my heart, they were dreaming of their Magical Day.

It’s my hope that you too can see the smiles on your grandkids faces, the sparkle in their eyes when they walk thru the Magical Gates Of Disneyland.
